Well, it's been a little over a month since I've been home and besides the 90 degree weather, it's been nice to catch up with family and friends. But I have to say, there has not been one day that Alaska hasn't been on my mind. From telling my stories to family and friends (or strangers), and showing people the (almost) 1,000 pictures I had printed out and put into albums to just sitting and reflecting on my time in AK, it's been on my mind every single day. I miss Alaska, Port Heiden, the people I met there, the kids that I got to be with every day and the best friends that I made. Lucky for me, I've been able to keep in touch with everyone through Facebook or e-mail or just texting. Kasie and I talk every day and send pictures asking about outfits or showing what we just made for dinner, etc - you know, all the stuff that we did in person, now it's just across the country! :)
I've had a lot of people asking me what I've been doing since I've been home and what things look like for this coming school year and I've also had people asking me to keep blogging.... well, I'm not doing anything exciting enough right now to blog about; BUT I will say that I've been applying to numerous jobs in some other states besides Pennsylvania.
I made the decision back a few months to come back to PA or somewhere on the East coast because that's what I thought I wanted. As much as I loved Alaska, I was afraid to take that step and commit to staying there. However, now that I've been home, I realize that I made the wrong choice. Alaska is where I want to be. Maybe not for a long time but at least right now, at least for a year or two. I've been doing what I can and looking into places to go. It's something that I don't know if people will understand unless they've been in this situation. Some people don't understand why I'd want to go back to living in a village where you can only get to it by plane and there's no stores, etc.... well I love it and am crossing my fingers that I can get back to AK and do what I love, where I want to be.
Keep your fingers crossed for me finding a teaching job and as soon as things get a little more exciting in my life, I'll start blogging again for all of you guys asking :)
PS - I get to pick Kasie up at the airport on Saturday! She's coming to PA for a conference so we'll get to hang out for a few hours, woo!
